One of former Coventry City star, Dion Dublin, started his career as a centre-back with Norwich City. But made his name at Cambridge United as a centre-forward. However, in his later years he showed his versatility by becoming an accomplished defender. Played as a centre-back so knew how to make them suffer when he was playing as a goal-scoring.

Imposing and dynamic, he became one of the most goal scorer in Premier League in 1997/1998, with 18 goals, alongside Michael Owen (Liverpool) and Chris Sutton (Blackburn Rovers).

Varsity XIII

-->
From the 25th of February until the 9th of March Coventry University and The University of Warwick will compete in their annual sporting showcase, the Varsity. It features a range of sports; including Hockey, Badminton, Equestrian, Cricket, Athletics, Swimming, Pool, Snooker, Basketball, Football and American Football. The event is a high-level competition, where some of the best athletes in the West Midland region meet. The winner is awarded the Varsity Shield.

The Event will begin with the Men’s ice Hockey fixture and conclude with the rugby teams battling it out for the final event fixtures. Our blog will sum up happenings and provide up-to-date standings at the end of every event day. Coventry has never beaten their rivals, but hopes are big this year after closing in, edging ever closer during previous years. The team will compete with the slogan “ONE TEAM, ONE DREAM” hoping to finally overcome Warwick, who themselves state their intent with their poster campaigns “IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THIS”.

Whatever happens, we can expect a great sporting competition and some tense and nail biting fixtures. This will be the place to be if you do not want to miss out on the action!
If you want to be there live and soak up the atmosphere, the fixture list is included below. Tickets are available from the Student Unions at reasonable price. (From the Coventry Student Union the Ice Hockey opening event will be priced at £3, with the option to purchase an all inclusive tickets for £10 - including the Varsity T-Shirt!)
